The Massachusetts Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants was founded to promote the practice of Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants (CAAs) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. CAAs have been providing safe, cost-effective anesthesia care for over 50 years.
Certified Anesthesiologist Assistants are medical professionals that are graduates of rigorous master's degree programs. Admission to CAA programs is competitive and require applicants to complete pre-medical course-work, similar to physicians. CAA programs require students to complete course-work in anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and must complete at least 2,500 hours of anesthesia experience in all sub-specialties of anesthesia.
